This is BY FAR the worst home warranty company in Alberta. If your building a home, buying one or your builder uses them RUN, AND RUN FAR AWAY. Find a new builder because the system is setup to favor the builder. Let me explain. The BUILDER has to buy the insurance for building a home. They have essentially 2 choices: these guys or Alberta New Home Warranty (ANHW). I have dealt with both companies and ANHW did not favor the builder in my case and we had major repairs done through warranty that the builder tried to disregard. Also, ANHW is more expensive for builders so they elect to choose the cheaper of the two. Now for Progressive to maintain business with the builders they need to 'favor' warranty claims to the builder. The only recourse you have is to escalate the claims, and then that takes for ever. Make sure to do this and take them to arbitration, as I have won in this case. You can not sue an insurance company in Alberta, as my lawyer told me, unfortunately and they know this. So at the end of the day, they don't care about the homeowner because they don't bring them in money, they lose money from homeowners. Everyone that works there is incompetent, from multiple reps (Baron Steele to be one) who will take months to respond to emails and is either purposely disorganized or hired to be that way. To the management (Blair Thompson). Good luck if you have them as a warranty company. You'll need all the patience and time in the world to deal with the joke of a company.
I am extremely disappointed with the service provided by Progressive Home Warranty. They are not impartial at all, frequently bending guidelines whenever it suits them. As a Black homeowner, I experienced treatment that was nothing short of racist and discriminatory. Their conduct was unacceptable and I would not recommend their services to anyone.
Based on personal experience I could never recommend Progressive to anyone. Claims are poorly handled and drawn out due to constant misinformation or neglect by claim workers. There is no proper documentation for inspections on repairs required by them leaving home owners with no confidence that issues will not arise again despite the issues persisting for years.
Joshua was great. Extremely fast responses. Really happy we had Progressive to deal with there. Unfortunately the third-party contractor they hired to do the repairs was totally clueless. Please don't let Steve Vail and Homes Canada be selected to do any work. And if you have the misfortunate of being stuck with that contractor, don't let him bring in any no-name Kijiji subcontractors that don't know basic code and do not sign off on anything until it's done properly. Get an investigator out to check his work first. Despite what Steve says beforehand, afterwards he'll just insist you file a new claim with progressive if you want any warranty for his sub-standard work.
Agree with the previous comments. I filed two claims on my new build home and this company was the worst. Our agent Megan Mulrooney had such terrible communication throughout the process. Our case was closed before being contacted back the first time and when I resubmitted my claim I had to call back on 3 separate occasions after having my call back request ignored.
