In my years of driving I've never made a claim or been in an accident and this company was trying to charge me $4k a year for insurance. My joke of a broker assured me this was the cheapest she could find but I'm now paying over a grand less a year with Allstate. I cancelled 14 days after my last month ended, long before my insurance was cancelled, and am now being forced to pay out $800 for a cancellation. That is a quarter of my yearly policy, for two weeks. For absolutely nothing. If this is what they want for a cancellation what would making a claim be like? What a joke.

My experience with Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group in Lindsay Ontario was incredibly wonderful! From the moment I reached out to them, the Auto Express Care Claims Specialist was kind, understanding and easy to talk to. Colleen went above and beyond to assist me with my insurance needs, taking the time to listen to my concerns and answer all of my questions patiently. She made the entire process seamless and stress-free – which was especially helpful after being shaken up from a collision with a large animal. I truly felt valued as a customer, and her professionalism and genuine care for me was evident every step of the way. I highly recommend this insurance company to anyone seeking excellent customer service and a seamless claims experience. Thank you so much for your support!

I'm surprised to read the negative reviews of Commonwell, as we've dealt with them for 10+ years and had several house insurance claims and one recent car insurance claim. All of them were handled VERY promptly, no hassles, no arguments, full coverage, and practically overnight. In the case of the recent car accident it was indeed overnight from when I reported the accident to the Collision Reporting Centre to when Commonwell adjuster called me, before I had even called them (I guess the CRC alerts the insurance company). I was asked for the details of the accident and some routine questions about the car, advised that I'm not at fault for this accident so they will waive the deductible AND provide a rental (even though I had declined to pay for that option in my policy when it was offered to me). No one could ask for better than that! Within 45 mins of getting off the phone with the adjuster the car rental company called to say let them know when the car is going to the body shop and they'll meet me there with the rental, and 5 mins after that the body shop called to say come in the next day for an estimate (they send it direct to the insurance company ... I just had to show up and let them inspect the car). I'll add too that the premiums we pay for both residential and auto insurance can't be beat. I've tried ... getting quotes from many other companies, with very few of them coming even close to Commonwell, and several of them outrageously higher premiums for the exact same policies.

If your insurance is with Commonwell I would run as fast as you can! Shop around! Get out as fast as you can. By far the worst service I have ever received in my life! My basement flooded April 5th, 2023 and 6 months later absolutely nothing has been done! The contractors they use are less than satisfactory- left thier equipment in my basement for 8 weeks, left furniture damaged by water in my home from April - June, on going lack of communication. Commonwell lacked on approving estimates which delayed many processes, the person in charge of the claim possesses zero customer service skills. The offer for the pay out was reduced by $2000 in a 24 hr period and no one can explain why. Called Ombudsman nothing was done! They won't provide me any compensation of any kind! My family room and my son play room was shoved into an extra bedroom in the basement where the old carpet remains. the items were put there on April 6th where they currently remain on October 10th, 2023. Absolutely the worst service I have ever received! And the worst part.. they literally don't eve care! A Manger basically told me.. If you don't like that it's taken this long, take the pay out (which is peanuts)and o it yourself. Like I pay you for a service - and on top of that paid $1000 deductible. I am absolutely furious

Would never EVER deal with this Company again. For one thing, you cannot contact them directly you have to go through your broker. For another, I have been experiencing some serious financial hardship over the past 2-3 years thanks to COVID-19 and several other factors. Commonwell cancelled my tenant insurance policy, as well as my auto insurance policy instead of allowing me to make payments/fix the situation. Part of the issue was my credit card company. When I straightened everything out with the credit card company, I even offered to make several payments all at once when I was able to. That did not matter to Commonwell. Pretty heartless considering my specific circumstances. So now, I have actually been forced to find coverage elsewhere for more money. How does that make sense???!!! It doesn’t. I would have thought that given the economic climate in Canada right now, they would have been way more understanding. Not impressed.
