Been with John Mastrandrea here for years and honestly I am not sure why. Awful, awful service. I have raised concerns about the quality of service over the years and nothing ever changed. In my opinion, John is lazy and perhaps even incompetent. What prompted me to write this review today was that I requested to cancel my renewal; John provided a form with no instructions on how to properly complete it, and never checked in with me about it. It wasn't until today when I received a letter from my insurer advising me of a credit to my account that I realized something may not be right. I inquired about this with John and he told me I had instructed him to cancel immediately rather than on the renewal date. So unbeknownst to me, I have been driving around for a week without insurance coverage and I didn't even know it. Consequences could have been very serious had I been in a collision or needed to make a claim for damage, theft, etc. It turns out that I misunderstood what they were asking for on the form and put that day's date where the date for canceling the policy should have been. An honest mistake that I think anyone could make, and John never bothered to check in with me to ensure I had coverage elsewhere before cancelling. That is negligent, in my opinion. Additionally, Olsen-Sotille has a grand total of 5(!) companies they deal with, making it extremely difficult to get a good rate. And for some reason, IDENTICAL COVERAGE quoted at another brokerage was about $3,500 cheaper than what John quoted me from the exact same insurer for the exact same coverage. Something seems fishy about that, but regardless, you won't get a good rate here. For comparison, my new broker has 20 companies that they offer insurance through. I ended up getting the exact same coverage that I had through Olsen-Sotille for $250 less a year. I didn't mind maybe paying a tiny bit extra to have a broker to deal with difficult insurance companies, but with service like this, I regret ever giving John and Olsen-Sotille my business for the last several years. I gave John a chance to retain my business last year when I had a complaint about him not checking around for better rates at time of renewal; he promised to make sure he did this going forward, but once again, I had to initiate the dialogue about getting a better rate elsewhere when my renewal notice came in the mail. Huge FAIL all around. What is the point of having a broker if you end up having to do all the legwork yourself anyhow? Don't give this negligent company your business.

This company is the easiest insurance company that I’ve ever had to deal with. They found me great rates and my broker John is phenomenal to deal with. Highly recommend

These people are scammers!! they’ll never call you to discuss future payment changes. They just send you it in the mail. I got a new car which means new policy, they did the difference what is owing on my old car policy, so they increased it from 270 to 680 a month. My broker said unfortunately he can’t change it, and to me he doesn’t show that he did or try to do his best to help me out during these difficult times that I’m sure everyone is going through cause of COVID-19.

Worst brokers I have ever dealt with. got insurance for my wife who was not a Canadian citizen. They gave us the same quote as everyone else. but within 1 year our premiums were raised 4 separate times. To well over $400 a month. Contacted out broker numerous times asking about discounts through chamber of commerce, through work, because we installed an alarm, because we installed a dash camera, etc. We were informed ever time we would not get any type of discount for those. Finally after the 4th increase we started shopping around again and found Youngs Insurance who were able to get us discounts for everything we mentioned to our broker in the last year and now we pay less then half of our last increase and to top it off it's still the same Intact insurance that he said wouldn't give us discounts. This is just a case of the broker being lazy and refusing to help his client. We hope no one has as horrible experience as us.

I was previously with an insurance provider that continuously increased their rates with no explanation. I contacted John Mastrandrea at Olsen Sottile. John was quick to find me lower priced insurance with much better service. Now, all of my insurance details are in one place and I couldn’t be happier.
