First time ever getting my passport, and it was a great experience. I went on May 10th, Friday, and waited outside (without at appointment) at 8:00 AM. There was already a small line-up, so I kept waiting until the doors opened at 8:30 AM. Once the doors opened at 8:30 AM, I was able to enter and was immediately greeted by a friendly Commissionaire Security Guard, he was an older man with a kind smile. Extremely polite and told me a good morning (I'll talk more about him later on). Once it was my turn in line, which took no time, I got my number and waited. I sat in a decently comfortable chair and began reading on my e-reader, and I had noticed another person having a verbal conversation on the phone - when being on the phone is prohibited. Instantly, not even 10 seconds passed, and the same Commissionaire who greeted me had rushed over and firmly told the person on the phone to get off and that talking on the phone was not allowed. Excellent Commissionaire doing a fantastic job at respecting the rules of the building and allowing order. Made my day! About 8:45 AM I was called to a booth, had a friendly and soft-spoken man with tattoos help me apply for my passport. He was direct, clear, and fully bilingual. I enjoyed my service with him. He explained the application and delivery of my passport thoroughly. I was out of the building by 9:10 AM, that be including the 5 minutes added to gather my things and properly secure my belongings. Other aspects about the building that I enjoyed: decent seating, available washrooms, comfortable AC, decent lightning, the building is clean and tidy. There are a lot of mixed reviews and experiences from this Service Canada building, but I believe you have to understand that in order to be respected, you must respect others first. Respect the rules, respect the Commissionaires working here, and respect the employees working for Service Canada. This is not a place to argue or fight - use proper communication and be prepared... meaning, read all the required information on the website before you enter the building. What are you missing? What do you need? Make a check-list like I had done. I found it easier to type out my passport application online and print out 2 copies in case one got torn or destroyed. Place everything in a secure folder and place in a bag with you (and keep that bag with you at all times). Bring water, perhaps a snack, you may not have the fastest service like I had. Bring a book, mute your phone to not disrupt others. If you have reached this far down my review and made it... Good luck on your passport application and happy travels! Again, respect everyone at Service Canada.
walked in to get a quick document, but didn’t have some documentation i needed. that’s completely fine. what wasn’t is the lady behind the counter basically holding back laughs at the fact that i was missing this documentation. lady with short grey hair and a canada tank top. highly unprofessional behaviour.
I've been here twice. Once without an appointment (Thankfully, the place was not too busy that time so I got the assistance I needed very fast), and another with an appointment (and thank goodness I did because lines of people were waiting). For both visits, the staff were very friendly and courteous. Bilingual services are offered (the staff are super welcoming). TIP: Book an appointment through their website, arrive 10-15 minutes early before your appointment time, and make sure you have all the documents you need. (I was done with my appointment in less than 30 minutes.) Thank you, Service Canada Hull!
There's a line for passport related applications. For the rest of the services provided here no need to do a line just get here and ask the commissioner at the entry and you will be accommodated inside. Will provide an update once I'm done with my business today.
Really?! One person for about 50 people waiting in line?! Also, that person at the line was quite rude as well. I asked (after I got my number) "approximately, how long is the wait?". She answered "20 minutes to 3 hours". Any person with even one eye working could've seen it's going to be over an hour at the minimum... Why play dumb? The person that actually did the work (passport application) was great... That's why 2 stars and not 1. I've been to about 4 other service Canada locations, and they were all much better than this one. Just a reminder... We pay your salary!
