Absolute thieves! They denied a claim due to fine print issue despite me having called in before to make sure this "issue" was fine. DO NOT use blue cross. They may be easy to use/buy from but they are TERRIBLE in the event of when a claim needs to be filed. Now I am forced to pay out of pocket. AVOID AVOID AVOID
This the second time I get screwed over this flight delay benefit that had been sold to me as an added benefit to my Blue Cross Travel Insurance. I am flying out tomorrow AM without this expected coverage. Very frustrating. The first time I was told I needed to register my flight before I boarded and was unable to claim any help when my flight got delayed. This time I was told registering my flight when doing check in 24 hrs prior to the flight is too late for Blue Cross. The attached marketing email reminders I got about this benefit reminded me that I needed to enter my flight details before I fly BUT did not state this had to be done 24 hours ahead which is unusual and was not even stated with my first experience other than register before the flight. This is not only extremely disappointing but deceptive marketing practice and may look for recourse. As this is the second time I experience this I thought I would share this as a review for attention as this clearly is going nowhere fast. I interacted with a very nice and polite customer service agent that could only share with me what the non-sensical policy and restriction is.
Blue Cross is the worst in customer service. I do not recommend anyone to deal with them. They only care when you pay them, but when you have an emergency, they don't care about you. When it comes to coverage, they use tactics to waste your time so you give up and they don't pay you, even if you have provided all the documents they requested. I had an emergency and I called them in advance to inform them before going to the doctor. After getting their approval and confirmation, I went and paid the amount. They told me they would cover the cost, but they didn't because they claimed the insurance had expired. However, the insurance was still valid; I visited the doctor on February 9th, and the expiry date was February 27th. This shows negligence and deceit. I have contacted them many times and sent all the documents and evidence, but they keep sending me the same email asking me to resend the invoices and the travel card. I did that, but to no avail. On Facebook, they disabled the option to post pictures because they are certain so many affected people will put them to fault.
I have been dealing with Blue Cross Travel insurance for decades and there is no other way to travel. First class network of doctors and hospitals across the US. You want to save a few bucks when your health is at risk, be my guest. I just spent an hour with Ms Gara who walked me through all my options in a professional way for my policy renewal. Five star service for a five star product!!
I bought a travel insurance from Blue cross, in 8 years traveling I never needed to cancel a trip, nor use the travel insurance, but in last August unfortunately I had to cancel because I got very sick. I got my refund back from Airbnb very simple and easy, but the flights were non refundable and I had Blue Cross travel insurance, which I had to use. I filled up the forms for remboursement, they asked me to send to Canassistance, I sent all documentation proving the canceling of my trip. Meanwhile I read online the reviews for this insurance company and I got very worried, but for my surprise everything was amazing. I am talking about my experience here because it was perfect, they just paid me for my flight expenses. It took a long time, long phone calls to understand the procedure for remboursement, which I hope they will improve, but around 50 days after I sent the documents I received the remboursement. I will buy travel insurance with them again because they honored their commitment on my travel insurance. Nobody wants to cancel their trip, but if they have to they need to count on their insurance to do their part, Blue Cross did it for me. I am very satisfied with their professionalism. Thank you blue cross !
