0/5 stars if there was the option. If you're not careful with Co-Operators, they will do everything they can to take your money without telling you. I initially got home insurance from Co-Operators trying to support local business. After 1 year and around the time of renewal, I had no idea how to renew the insurance so I contacted a representative for help. The quote they gave me was $200 increase from the previous year, and no reason was given for this and we had no claims through the year. Despite additional attempts at communication and clarification, there was no response regarding this matter. The representative also said to contact the office for renewal - so at this point I was under the impression insurance from Co-operators required us to directly contact or go to their office for renewal. Given the unreasonable $200 increase in annual fees, I went to a different insurance provider and was able to save $800, with rough the same coverage if not better. Then a couple days after the insurance from Co-Operators was suppose to expire, I received a letter invoice for the full amount of annual fee - which was shocking since I thought that the insurance would just expire, rather than self-renewal (previous email communication with the representative described above had no mention that there's autorenewal and they stated I needed to call the office to renewal). Upon contacting Co-Operators over the phone, the representative "assured" me that there was previous communication via letter mail that the insurance would self-renewal, and that there would be over $250 fee for canceling the contract. I was shocked yet again that Co-Operators had the authority, apparently under contract, to automatically renewal our insurance with a significant price increase without previous consent! This is incredibly shady business practices, and I would never use Co-Operators Insurance ever again. Please don't be fooled by all the positive reviews you see on Google Maps. Googling "Co-Operators Home Insurance Review", you'll find a large number of negative issues that the company fails to address. Lesson learned I need to do my due diligence, but regardless consider thrice before giving your hard earned money to Co-Operators, they will happily rip you off at any opportunity.
